Company Round Up – August 2023
by MSP Marketing on 4:57 PM on September 1, 2023
We take a look at key events and stories that happened at MSP in the month of August.
AutoClock was granted its European patent this month!
AutoClock is the first product for the CNC machining process that is capable of fully automating the procedure to find the position of a calibration artefact (usually a sphere) in the machine tool, as part of the on-machine probe setup process.
This means faster and more accurate machine setup for increased productivity and reduced part scrap or concessions.
Find out more about AutoClock here.
Amanda takes a trip to Silverstone
Not every trip is work and no play! While visiting a customer this month,Amanda, had the chance to go to the Silverstone track!
If you’re interested in how we can help Formula 1 teams machine parts quicker, more efficiently and get designs onto the track in record times, read the case study here.
We’re back at Advanced Engineering for 2023
We announced this month that we’re back at Advanced Engineering this year from 1st - 2nd November! Pop by Stand H135 and say hi!
We’ll be talking right-first-time machining, CNC machine capability and micron-accurate probe setup and calibration.
We’ve been going to the exhibition since around 2012! See above for a photo from one of our past events.
Spirit AeroSystems Trip
Senior Applications Engineer, Stefan, was on-site this month at Spirit AeroSystems.
He had a busy few days completing:
- operator training on the company’s CMS machines
- advanced benchmark training with the automation team
- an AutoClock demo to show them the latest technology to automate probe setup and calibration

Renishaw Visit to MSP
This month, MSP hosted Matt Lorkin and Claude Brown from the CGPD Team at Renishaw.
MSP built and now develop/maintain UCCServer and EquatorServer, helping Renishaw’s customers to drive their CMM’s and Equators in the most effective ways possible.
The main purpose of Matt and Claude’s visit this time was to enhance our in-house testing procedures and allow for fully-automated 24/7 pre-release testing going forward. It also provided a great opportunity for productive face-to-face meetings!
It was great to see them both!
NC-Checker install at GKN Aerospace
Stefan went on site at GKN Aerospace Filton this month to install NC-Checker on their Makino Mag 4H machine.
In the image above, you can see NC-Checker performing its tests on AutoClock in the machine. AutoClock and NC-Checker work together to create a fully automated machine setup procedure.
First, AutoClock sets the machine’s work offset automatically, ready for the probe to be calibrated. NC-Checker can then run automatically after to calibrate the probe and verify the machine is capable of machining parts to tolerance.
Learn more about this automated machine setup process here.
New AutoClock demo video in progress
Aidan reprised his role as presenter this month after his success in MSP’s previous product demo videos!
We’re demoing the AutoClock on Biesse's Materia CL machine to show how it automatically sets the probe up for accurate, repeatable and in-process checking and calibration. And how the two work together for ultimate precision CNC machining.
