Practical Machinist Features MSP Best Fit Alignments on DMG MORI NTX 500

PracticalMachinistDemo

MSP’s NC-PartLocator software has been featured in a DMG MORI iDays and Practical Machinist demonstration, exploring the importance of understanding a part’s condition of supply and ensuring it is correctly aligned before machining begins.

Implemented on a DMG MORI NTX 500 machine, the demonstration highlights the challenges manufacturers can face when working with castings or near-net shapes, when the actual position of the part may differ from the nominal CAD and machining setup.

These variations can lead to lengthy long setup times, increased risk of scrap, and potential tool or fixture damage.

MSP’s NC-PartLocator probing software addresses these challenges by measuring the part and automatically generating an accurate best fit 5-axis alignment, compensating for any part variation or distortion. The alignment is then automatically uploaded to the controller, ensuring the part will be machined to tolerance.

We're proud to be part of this collaboration alongside Renishaw, demonstrating how part setup and alignment can be automated using 5-axis probing and NC-PartLocator.

The same MSP automated Best Fit Alignment process can be applied across a range of CNC machine tools. Explore these case studies to see what other machines we work with:
